We interrupt our semi-regularly scheduled program to bring you a week of appointments, screaming, and some fun too.
We began each morning by playing a fun game of breakfast musical chairs. Which was my toddler sitting in my seat and then insisting she wanted to sit next to me when I sat elsewhere. So she moved, so I moved back into my seat and then she moved again and then Josh moved and the baby moved. Musical chairs, but without the music. You get the picture.
Then a brief stint outside for chalk, running, screaming, and throwing in an acceptable place. Afterwards, we had the daily “I don’t want to do tefilah” followed by me doing tefilah. Then shopping, a failed activity, or just straight to screen time.
There was a lot of screaming this week. Our kids are so tired lately, so that means more meltdowns. The worst offense of them all, is giving a toddler exactly what they asked for. And if it’s food? Forget it. That’s how we end up with two kids on stools eating butter for dinner instead of the food I just made. Or raw spaghetti since they don’t want to wait until it finishes cooking. So after slaving over a hot stove, with two kids screaming at me to give them the food I’m making, they won’t even taste it once it’s ready. Raw potatoes have more appeal than cooked ones I guess.
We have days dressed in costumes, scarves, and aprons. Playing “mishpacha” (family) where I’m not allowed to be the mommy. There are days of cooking and baking food together. Can you guess which gets eaten and which doesn’t?
Our pool had a slight malfunction so instead of pool time, we had afternoon bathtime, followed by dinner time. It’s a strange experience to clean your children just to have them roll around in crumbs before bed, but if you just wipe them off again, no one will know. Well, I guess now someone knows.
On the bright side, Morah Ester on Toveedo is teaching my kids lots of new things, like having patience.
Only three more weeks until gan starts again.
